The Brenham Fine Arts League and Gallery, located in downtown Brenham at 110 W. Alamo, provides a venue where artists of the area come together for art classes, workshops, and to show and sell their artwork. The Art Gallery is where the public is invited to view and purchase artwork created by League members. The League sponsors several art scholarships and also a Spring Art Show. The Brenham Children’s Chorus performs concerts and musicals regularly in public and for private programs having appeared before more than 36,000 in their first 4 years. Principal programs in the Brenham area take place in October, December, and two spring performances that include a licensed Broadway musical adapted for children. The Chorus has toured numerous venues in Texas in addition to 3 cities in Wisconsin including appearances in the Capitol Rotunda, International Festival-Institute and company commemorations.

 

Unity Theatre is now in its 12th season, serving the immediate community and theatre lovers from nearby Houston, Austin and Bryan/College Station. Located in historic downtown Brenham, Unity Theatre is firmly established as a state-of-the art performance facility, yet it is housed in an historic, 23,000 square-foot-warehouse that is sure to charm visitors. Captivating performances are made possible by the many professional actors, designers, costumers, and technical experts that travel from across the region to participate in this unique theatre.

 

 

Blinn College provides an outstanding venue, the Dr. W.W. O’Donnell Performing Arts Center, for visiting artists as well as students and faculty. Regular performances are produced by the Theater Arts, Choral, and Band departments as well as by a mixed chorale of adult and student singers who perform as the Brenham Chorale. Each department provides a wide variety of music, instrumentation, and theater arts and is led by faculty who are accomplished performers themselves.

 

Brenham High School produces award-winning plays and musicals such as Beauty and the Beast, Cinderella, Grease, and Guys and Dolls. The Choral department provides programs featuring top vocalists in the Chorale as well as a special ensemble “Encore” which performs vocal jazz and pop music with choreography. The band, orchestra, and ensembles perform in concerts throughout the year. Musical and theatrical performances take place most weeks of the year in the 2000 seat state-of-the-art auditorium.

 

The International Festival-Institute at Round Top presents classical music performances and programs on art, art history, decorative arts, theatre, gardening and poetry throughout the year. Each summer, an international body of young artists performs as the Texas Festival Orchestra under the direction of world-renowned conductors during the Festival-Institute season in June and July. Mr. James Dick, internationally renowned concert pianist and founder of this incredible facility, performs regularly with the Texas Festival Orchestra, visiting guest artists and conductors.

 

The Arts Council of Washington County, chartered in 1981, supports the arts in Washington County and provides community educational programs as concerts, theatrical productions, ballet, children's music and theatre. The Council schedules lecturers, story tellers, and other special programs for the private and public schools as well as special summer concerts the first Fridays in June, July, and August at Fireman's Park in Brenham at 7p.m..
